[ ATTENTION & FOCUS ]

focus for a day with more than one task

changing tasks means changing what matters. connect the research on attention and accuracy with a practical way to leave and resume your work.

[ THE SHORT ANSWER ]

attention is more than feeling awake. human studies of caffeine + l-theanine have found improvements in task-switching performance, including accuracy. workflow brings the pairing into a portable gummy for work and study, with 20 mg caffeine + 40 mg l-theanine per piece.

01

caffeine that fits the moment

workflow pairs 20 mg caffeine from guarana with 40 mg l-theanine in each gummy. smaller increments let you choose your caffeine amount for the moment, with the pairing built into every piece.

choose pineapple yuzu or blood orange mango. both flavors are vegan, made with pectin, and come in a resealable pouch of 40 gummies. each gummy contains 2 g sugar.

02

what is task switching?

imagine sorting a set of items by color, then being told to sort them by shape. the material may be familiar, but the rule has changed. you have to notice the new instruction and apply it to the next answer.

that is a simple illustration of the question researchers ask. a controlled switching task lets them count correct responses and response times. moving from a spreadsheet to a message is more complicated, but the distinction helps explain why “i feel awake” is not a complete measure of attention.

03

what did the caffeine + l-theanine study find?

giesbrecht and colleagues studied 44 young adults using 40 mg caffeine with 97 mg l-theanine versus placebo. testing took place before the dose and 20 and 70 minutes afterward. task-switching accuracy improved; visual search, choice reaction time and mental rotation did not show significant effects.

because the comparison was placebo, this trial cannot isolate the added contribution of l-theanine over caffeine alone. it provides evidence for the tested combination on a defined task.

04

how does that fit with other research?

a separate 2010 crossover trial also tested 40 mg caffeine with 97 mg l-theanine. it reported improved task-switching performance, but not intersensory attention or subjective alertness. results can differ even when the ingredient amounts are similar.

task switching stands out as a useful area of research for the pairing. these studies measured how people handled changing instructions and rules.

05

accuracy is a different goal from speed

a fast answer can be wrong. a slower answer can be correct. when a study separates reaction time from accuracy, it is asking two different questions about performance. neither number alone tells you whether someone made a better decision in their own work.

for your own routine, define what doing the task well looks like before deciding what product feature matters. checking the right file, catching a changed instruction and finishing a thought are more concrete goals than simply wanting “more energy”.

06

make the next switch more deliberate

a simple work setup to try: write the next action before leaving a task, keep the current instruction visible and give the new task a clear starting point. leave yourself a clear place to pick up again.

if you also choose caffeine, make that a separate decision. record the amount, include what you have already had and consider the time of day. keep your next action visible.

[ GOOD QUESTIONS ]

a little more clarity

does feeling more alert mean being more accurate?

not necessarily. self-reported alertness and correct task responses are different measures. look for the outcome that matches your question.

how much caffeine and l-theanine is in each gummy?

each workflow gummy contains 20 mg caffeine from guarana and 40 mg l-theanine. both flavors use the same core formula, with 40 gummies per pouch.
